Penthouse (second floor) Apartment in the unspoilt fishing village of Cabanas, close to Tavira in the eastern Algarve. The apartment has full air conditioning/heating and was completed in March 2008. It is delightfully furnished to the very highest standards.
If you don't want to eat in on the shaded lower terrace, there's a good selection of bars and restaurants in the village - enjoy local fish specialities and wine at very cheap prices! The upper terrace has sun loungers and a further table for eating so that you can enjoy lovely views over the rooftops. Everything is within walking distance - supermarket, bars, good selection of restaurants and the beach. Cabanas beach can be reached by a 2 min boat ride and has 3km of golden sands.
Cabanas is
an ideal base for exploring the Algarve with regular train and bus services
running along the coast.
Benamor Golf Course is 1km with Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima golf courses 4 km. The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for visiting sites of historical interest such as Estoi (palace), Milreu (Roman ruins) and Castro Marim (Nature Reserve). The lovely old Town of Tavira, also known as ‘the little Venice of Portugal’ is 4km and Spain is just 20 mins away. Ideal for couples and families.

The living/dining area has a table/chairs, lounge area and TV, DVD/CD player. There is an individual air conditioning unit in this area. There is also a large comfortable sofa plus chair, which converts into a bed. |

The property is fitted with shutters to keep it nice and cool during the long hot days. Our English agent will meet you at the apartment and show you around and on call to deal with any problems that may arise. |

Cleaning/towels/ |
The price includes Fresh bed linen and bathroom towels which are provided every 7 days and the apartment is cleaned once a week. Our British agent is on call to deal with any problems that may arise. Guests are asked to please provide own towels for the pool and beach. Additional cleaning can be arranged on request. |
Notes on accommodation
The air-conditioning also doubles as heating or fan and can be set to a specific
temperature.
We request that guests do not smoke inside the apartment, an ashtray is provided on the balcony, for use there. We regret the apartment is not suitable for pets.

Accessibility
The apartment is accessed via three wide flights of interior stairs, with a
handrail on one side. There is also a lift that serves 4 apartments. Because of
the steps to the roof terrace, care needs to be taken for very young children.
The lobby area serves 6 apartments in the block and access to this area is controlled via an intercom system.
Outside
A great feature of this apartment is the amount of outside space. There are two
terraces - the lower terrace can be accessed directly from the lounge and main
bedroom, making it ideal for outdoor eating. There is a shaded area for very hot
days. From this terrace, a flight of steps lead up to the very large upper
terrace which is has loungers for sunbathing and a further table/chairs for
early evening drinks with lovely views over the rooftops. The apartment block is
located in its own grounds with a shared pool. The pool area is very safe and
secure and there is also a small children's play area. The pools and garden
areas are well-maintained.
Coast/Beach
The apartment is a short 10 minute stroll from the waterfront where a range of
small boats offer a 2 minute boat ride to the long and unspoilt Cabanas Beach.
The return trip costs about 1 euro per person and run throughout the day in
season. The beach has its own cafe bar, changing facilities and toilets.
Parasol, sunbed, jet-ski and paddle boat hire are all available in season.
This stretch of the Algarve enjoys long sandy beaches. Between Tavira and Monte Gordo there are five Blue Flag beaches. The magnificent soft sandy beach of Ilha de Tavira is less than 15 minutes drive from the apartment.
Golf
For golf nuts this is the place for you! The local course at
Benamor (5500 metres par 71) is
perfect for holiday golf, with much cheaper green fees than anywhere you'll find
in the west and a beautiful restaurant too. It has terrific views out to the sea
and of the nearby hills. Quinta da
Cima (6256 metres par 72) and
Quinta da Ria (6110ms par 72 ) are 5 minutes drive and are beautifully
manicured championship courses with stunning scenery and top class practice
facilities. A little further afield (20 mins) is
Castro Marim (5466m par 72) with
its castle for a clubhouse! New on the scene 15 mins away are the 2 spectacular
Jack Nicklaus signature courses at Monte Rei
- the courses and the service are an experience not to be missed. Opening Spring
2008 is another new course, designed by Seve Ballesteros, located near to the
Spanish border by the river. The
Algarve
has 18 other courses.
Travel
The apartment is an easy 35 min drive from Faro airport. Transfer to/from the
airport can be arranged with a reliable local taxi company if required (this is
payable locally). Buses run frequently from Cabanas to Tavira. Conceição train
station is 10 mins walk from the apartment. Car hire can be arranged at the
Airport and all the major companies have depots at the airport. Alternatively,
you can hire a car for shorter periods from operators in Cabanas. Day trips by
coach to local markets, water parks and even Seville can also be booked locally
in Cabanas. The Spanish border is 25 mins drive where the motorway bridge will
take you over the Guadiana River into Spain. Seville airport is 90 minutes away.
The nearest town is beautiful and historic Tavira which is about 4km away and can be easily reached by bus, train or taxi. The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for visiting nature reserves, castles, bustling markets, quiet fishing villages or busier retail areas.
Further details
Cabanas is a fishing village where you will find quiet narrow streets with
numerous cafes, bars and restaurants, some of which serve until very late at
night. There is a daily fish and vegetable market and local butchers,
supermarkets, post office, internet café, bank and ATM machines etc. There are
facilities to learn wind surfing or kite surfing. Excursions are available with
local departures to all of the Algarve's main attractions including Waterpark
and Zoomarine.
Booking notes
We request a 20% deposit at time of booking, with the balance payable 6 weeks
prior to departure. We advise our guests to cover risk of cancellation with
their own holiday insurance. A security deposit of £150 is payable with the
final payment and will be refunded two weeks after departure from the apartment,
subject to inspection.
For stays longer than two weeks prices can be negotiated. Guests will be met at the property on arrival and provided with keys.
